Thiess has been awarded two new contracts for approx. USD 230 million with BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance for construction works on the Caval Ridge Mine Project in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. The contracts are for construction of a coal handling and preparation plant and a rail loop and holding roads.
South Bank (QLD) Australia – The Thiess contracts are for the construction of a coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) for approx. USD 130 million and a rail loop and holding roads for approx. USD 99.5 million.
The rail contract includes engineering design and the project will entail earthworks and excavation ahead of track laying and installation of signalling, overhead power and communications systems.
