After two days of intensive activity BulkSolids India closed its doors on March 3, 2010 in Mumbai. Almost 800 conference delegates and visitors to the exhibition followed the presentations of international experts and exchanged their knowledge and experiences.
“With BulkSolids India, we have entered the right market with the right theme at the right time,” the responsible organizers from Vogel Business Media and NürnbergMesse agreed. “The conference with accompanying exhibition is exactly the right get-together for the bulk materials handling and processing sector to discuss the market’s latest developments and trends. The exhibitors and speakers at the event confirmed the great importance of such a platform in India,” says Vijay K. Agarwal, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, Chairman of the Conference Board.
The two-day BulkSolids India 2010 can be summarized as a compact, top-calibre event. The conference programme focusing on transport, storage and handling of bulk materials, granules and powder was highly topical and geared to the Indian market and the Indian production and processing industry, so the organizers had chosen exactly the right issues. Almost 800 conference and exhibition participants came to Mumbai to discuss the latest developments and trends in the market. The result of a visitor survey conducted at the event confirms that just under 80 percent of the visitors obtained the information they were looking for. 86 percent were very satisfied with the overall organization of the conference. All the contacts also scored good marks for quality and every second visitor made new business contacts at BulkSolids India. Almost 70 percent are already planning to visit the next event in spring 2011.
Gerd Kielburger, publisher at Vogel Business Media, sums up the two days: “The feedback from many participants showed the Indian bulk materials handling and processing industry’s great interest in a top-calibre and specialized event like BulkSolids India. The priority here is quite clearly on the professional exchange of views and direct, high-quality dialogue. This is appreciated by the speakers and exhibitors and by the conference participants and visitors, who have found a common platform here.” The reknown expert Professor Mark Jones from TUNRA Bulk Solids Handling Research Associates, University of Newcastle, Australia, opened the lecture series on March 2 with his keynote on “Bulk Solids Research and its Impact on Industrial Practice”. The conference focused on conveying systems, transport and storage of bulk materials, simulation methods, bulk materials handling in coal fired power plants, energy efficiency, environmental aspects and much more. The exhibition with key players from the Indian as well as from the international market also presented an exceptionally strong line-up. Just as the conference participants and speakers, the top international companies attending the event were equally impressed by the concept and professionalism. “We are sure the event has great potential in India, which should be supported. After all, the really well organized premiere was very successful. Although the quantity could increase for 2011, we did have a number of valuable and promising contacts. We certainly advocate taking part next year,” says Dr. Fabian Festge, Chairman and Managing Director, Haver Ibau. K.S. Kumar, General Manager Marketing at ThyssenKrupp Industries India, takes a similar view: “Everything is really well organized here and the lectures are of a very high technical standard. This is certainly the best platform for bulk materials handling technology in India. For a two-day event, we had very good contacts with very specific inquiries and ideas. We will certainly be there again next year.” Samir Kumar, Regional Manager, Phoenix Yule, also stresses the good organization of the event and confirms: “BulkSolids India has indeed a great potential in our country, as the Indian market is growing overall. The topics covered in the conference were well chosen.” Based on his good experience of previous events organised by Vogel Business Media and NürnbergMesse, attending BulkSolids India was a must for Jim Turner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Martin Engineering: “This type of event – conference plus exhibition – is simply a very good opportunity to present our company: with our products on the stand and our know-how on the stage. All the better that we made some very high-quality contacts at the premiere of BulkSolids India and are therefore certainly planning to participate again in 2011.”
These personal impressions of selected exhibitors are also underlined by the results of the exhibitor survey carried out at the event, which showed that almost 70 percent were very satisfied to satisfied with the number of visitors on their stand. Three out of four exhibitors were very satisfied to satisfied with the quality of the visitors. In summarizing, the survey shows that 83 percent of all exhibitors give good marks for their participation at BulkSolids India 2010. “This positive conclusion and the confirmation of many market players and experts that BulkSolids India creates an important platform unmistakably shows the need for an annual event,” says Meike Krüger, Event Manager at NürnbergMesse. “We’re already looking forward to the second edition in April 2011!”
