With new concept for the next annual Powder & Bulk Solids exhibition/conference at Ahmedabad, India, the organizer try to expand the events scope for new target audiences. Petra Wolf of NürnbergMesse and Gerd Kielburger, Vogel Business Media, explain these plans...
The German publishing company Vogel Business Media and the Nürnberg exhibition company NürnbergMesse are organizing an exhibition with accompanying conference for the powder and bulk solids processing industries in India for the third time. The two partners have made a number of adjustments before the next event, which is now presented with an amended name, a new date and at a different location. The Powder & Bulk Solids India, Exhibition & Conference, takes place in Ahmedabad from 13–15 March 2012.
How did this development of the event concept come about and what are the distinguishing features of the new Powder & Bulk Solids India? The responsible management, Gerd Kielburger, Editorial Director Process and BulkSolidsHandling (among others) of Vogel Business Media, and Petra Wolf, Member of the Management Board / Executive Director International Operations of NürnbergMesse, answer these questions below.
The previous Bulk Solids India has a new concept for 2012. Ms Wolf, how did the decision to make these changes come about?
Petra Wolf: The first two events in India went well for everyone concerned and we were able to gather much experience in the process. For the new concept of the third edition, we have incorporated expert opinions and have responded more intensively to the wishes of our customers. Our goal must still be to reflect the Indian market, for which it is necessary to attract local suppliers.
Nevertheless, Wolf continues, recent analysts indicate an exhaustion of the visitor target groups in Mumbai. Now NürnbergMesse aims to develop new target groups in the Indian state of Gujarat, as Wolf noted. She also sees other advantages in the selection of Ahmedabad, a local business and indutry center in western India and India's seventh largest city:
Another advantage of the new venue in Ahmedabad is the marked concentration of industries like pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, mechanical engineering, ceramics, etc., from which we hope to extend our visitor and exhibitor target groups.
To target also groups that, up to now, did not feel represented under the label "Bulk Solids India", Wolf aims for a broader approach:
At the same time, the analyses of our visitor and exhibitor surveys have indicated that the previous name “Bulk Solids India” did not approach all the intended target groups. Adding “Powder” will reflect the actual theme better in future, as mechanical processing technologies concern everything from powders to bulk solids.
