Helsinki, Finland – Cargotec secured a turn-key Siwertell unloading systems contract for a new power plant in Singaore. The continuous ship unloading system will be installed at TP Utilities’ new biomass/coal-fired power plant, which is scheduled to enter operation in mid-2012.
Cargotec signed the turn-key agreement for the delivery of a fuel receiving system with the Japanese engineering, procurement and construction contractor Marubeni. The system is designed to handle biomass (palm kernel shells) and coal. The fuel receiving system consists of a Siwertell ship unloader, a control system and a chain of belt conveyors and bucket elevators that are designed to feed a flat storage area and silo. Construction, installation, start-up, commissioning and testing and training, as well as supervision, are also included in the contract. The system will receive fuel via seaborne transportation and will be able to maintain a rated capacity of 1000 tonnes per hour when unloading coal and 300 tonnes per hour when unloading biomass.
