Belt Conveying

No Turn too sharp, no Path too long

The Beumer belt conveyor offers an energy-efficient transport solution for quarries, gravel pits, and other applications.

Impassable terrain or long distances are no obstacles for Beumer’s belt conveyors when it comes to transporting piece goods or bulk materials of almost any type – with both conventional and closed conveyor solutions available to meet the requirements of the specific site.

With its flexible layout, handling horizontal and vertical curves, these belt conveyors are among the cornerstones of Beumer’s conveying technology for a wide variety of materials, be it limestone, cement, chemical products, ore, coal, fertilizers, cereals, gravel, sand, or alternative fuels. For more than 70 years, the Beckum-based Beumer Group has always found the best solution for the specific bulk or piece good conveying needs of its clients.

Economical, ecologically sound, and fast – these are the hallmarks of Beumer’s belt conveyors when it comes to transporting piece goods or bulk materials over long distances and curved routes. By comparison to other conveying solutions, the switch to curved belt conveyors saves time and energy. Depending on the product, the topographical constraints and the needs of the client, the choice is between the closed tube belt conveyor, which can cover even tighter curves and steeper gradients, or the open troughed belt conveyors, which are particularly suited to handling outsized goods.

Beumer has successfully installed a broad range of overland conveyor layouts for its clients all over the world, transporting e.g. limestone from quarries to cement works, alternative fuels from processing plants to furnaces, iron ore from opencast mines to ironworks, or coal from harbours to power plants. The curved belt conveyors can handle even seemingly impassable terrain quickly and reliably. Crossing over or tunnelling under roads, mountains, valleys, railroads, or rivers – a specialist team is available to design the layout of the conveyor system to fit the challenges of any terrain worldwide. Many years of experience, ongoing research, and continuing innovation are the base of Beumer’s competence in conveying technology.

Horizontal and Verical Curves

With the individual combination of horizontal and vertical curves, Beumer can adjust the layout of overland conveyors to suit the geographical and topographical situation best. While horizontal curves can manoeuvre around buildings or other obstacles, vertical curves are used to handle even considerable inclines – be it in the open landscape or within the plants of the clients. By combining horizontal and vertical curves or tunnelling through mountains, even the most rugged terrain, ravines, or rivers cease to be an obstacle.

One example of Beumer’s vanguard role as a specialist for conveying technology can be seen in the cost-effective and timesaving installation of a belt conveyor system for the Asia Cement Group in the Chinese Sichuan province. They designed and installed the 12.5 km troughed belt conveyor with a capacity of 1,500 tons per hour and a belt speed of four metres per second in a mountainous landscape. A particular challenge of this installation was the presence of extreme drops of up to 100 metres. In addition to eight horizontal curves with radii from around 1000 up to 5000 metres, the entire installation covers 28 vertical curves. In order to ease the strain on the belt over the six drops and six inclines along the route, the system uses a specialized drive solution with a tailor-made Beumer control system. A logistical challenge of this magnitude could not be coped with road or rail transport.

Belt conveyors form part of the conveying technology portfolio of the Beumer Group, alongside apron conveyors and bucket elevators. With this comprehensive portfolio, Beumer can offer bespoke solutions for a wide range of conveying needs for bulk materials or piece goods in many different sectors of industry.

Their long reference list with many renowned clients is proof of the innovative technology and the profound know-how of the Beumer Group with its more than 1000 employees in over 70 countries. The global presence of the company, its comprehensive service package and its on site support, are further characteristics that make Beumer stand out from its competition.
