A new generation of ATEX approved command and indicator switches offers simple and cost-effective installation: following the ‘Energy Harvesting’ principle, the units offer wireless communication and need no power supply.
With the Ex BF 80 series, Steute presents a new range of command and indicator switches designed specifically for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. This series comprises three enclosure sizes housing up to three different command devices, thus offering users a variety of options. They can choose between command switches (including push buttons, mushroom buttons, double push buttons, selector switches and control switches), indicator lights and key-operated switches.
In accordance with the ATEX directive, these devices are suitable for use in gas Ex zones 1 and 2, as well as dust Ex zones 2 and 22. They permit different actuating elements to be combined in one compact unit which can be mounted directly at the place of use.
Irrespective of the individual command and indicating elements chosen, the devices designed to suit protection class IP 66 are strong and durable, even in unfavourable application conditions. The explosion-proof elements throughout the entire series meet the ATEX and IECEx directives.
A special feature is the optional fitting of the operating unit with ‘wireless Ex’ technology, which works according to the ‘energy harvesting’ principle. The actuator plunger has an integrated electrodynamic energy generator which converts kinetic energy into electric energy. Energy for the transmission of radio signals is thus always available and neither cables nor batteries are needed, making the Ex BF 80 series very flexible to fit.
