Sedgman Civmec JV awarded major Contract for BHP Billiton Iron Ore

The Sedgman Civmec joint venture has been awarded a contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore for civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and commissioning works at the Jimblebar iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of the northwest of Western Australia. The Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning contract is valued at approx. AUD 145 million (approx. USD 103 million), which comprises the installation of a new primary crusher and additional conveyor capacity.

The award of this contract followed a competitive tender process and is testament to the design and safe delivery capability that the Sedgman Civmec joint venture was able to demonstrate to BHP Billiton Iron Ore. The Sedgman Civmec joint venture is an unincorporated 50:50 joint venture between Sedgman Limited and Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd (Civmec) targeting mineral processing and materials handling project opportunities in Western Australia.
