Gijón, Spain – Under the terms of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Duro Felguera and Ausenco, in a 50-50 consortium, will draw up the technical and commercial details of their bid. Once this phase is complete, and certain economic conditions have been met, project execution will start.

The Dumont project is one of the few nickel sites in the world and initial investment is estimated at USD 1.07 billion. It is a significant site for this mineral near the city of Amos, in the mining region of Abitibi in the province of Quebec. The mine is expected to be large scale and open air, producing nickel for over 30 years. The facilities already have all the administrative permits and paperwork necessary for operation and once it starts working, it is expected to be the fifth largest nickel sulphide mine in the world.

The CEO of Duro Felguera, Angel Antonio del Valle Suárez, said that this achievement is proof of Duro Felguera and Ausenco's joint capacity for taking on major mining projects.

Ausenco CEO Zimi Meka stated that Dumont was a priority target as it is located in one of Ausenco's short-term growth regions and is one of the best EPC opportunities in the mining and oil and gas markets. He also pointed out that since 2012 Ausenco has been working with Royal Nickel on the delivery of the detailed engineering, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
