How to Handle the Fire’s Feed

Effective Utilization of Alternative Fuels
During the most recent decades the utilization of (otherwise) waste materials and biomass as alternative fuels in the cement industry and power plants showed great growth figures. However, the low heat values of alternative fuels require larger handling and storage systems that are more flexible. This article shows, how these materials can be handled.

Sixth Siwertell Continuous Ship Unloader for Mai-Liao Power Plant

Siwertell will deliver a ST 940 DOB-type continuous ship unloader with a rated coal unloading capacity of 2000 t/h for the Mai-Liao power plant in Taiwan.
Continuous Ship Unloading
Siwertell, part of Cargotec, has secured a contract to supply a sixth continuous ship unloader for the Mai-Liao power plant in Taiwan. Five large Siwertell unloaders are currently in operation supplying coal to the 4200 MW facility, the third largest in the country. Three of the unloaders were delivered in 2001 and two in 2006. This latest order was booked in Cargotec's 2015 third quarter order intake.

Overcoming a Mines Embankment

Chevron Megapipe conveyors are an alternative to conventional truck-transportation of bulk solid materials in deep open cast mines.
IPCC-system with new Belt Conveying Concept for steep Opencast Minewalls
In order to allow for a continuous high capacity conveying system out of steep walled open pit mines Thyssenkrupp together with Contitech and Siemens developped the Chevron Megapipe conveyor with an up to 900 mm outer diameter. The pipe belt features highest tensile strength as well as a ribbed carrying side to hinder the transported bulk material from rolling back.

No Harm to the Environment

With its ability to navigate curves in three dimensions, the pipe conveyor can be optimally adapted to its transport route.
Pipe Conveyor System
Transportadora Callao S.A., the logistics operator of a special cargo terminal in the port of Callao, Peru, relies on a Beumer Group pipe conveyor for the transportation of zinc, copper and lead
concentrates of different mining companies from the warehouse to the terminal.

World’s largest Wood Pellet Store

Wood Pellet Handling
In the UK as well as in the rest of Europe biomass fuel is finding ever more attention. To enable the utilisation of such materials in power plants on a big scale they have to be supplied in consistent quality with regard to chemical and physical composition. This can be achieved by transforming them into pellets, with the additional benefit that systems for handling such materials already exist.
