Wood Pellet Handling
In the UK as well as in the rest of Europe biomass fuel is finding ever more attention. To enable the utilisation of such materials in power plants on a big scale they have to be supplied in consistent quality with regard to chemical and physical composition. This can be achieved by transforming them into pellets, with the additional benefit that systems for handling such materials already exist.

Eco-friendly Coal Storage

The storage system features a stacker/reclaimer and a belt conveyor with innovative CST-drives.
Covered Coal Storage
India based JSW Group, a USD 11 Billion conglomerate with commodities in different sectors of industry, has put up a 1200 MW power plant in Maharashtra state. For supplying the power plant with coal they installed a covered storage facility in the purpose built private port of Jaigarh.

Pugmill Mixer Selection Guide

Mixing & Blending
Pugmill mixers are versatile machines for the mixing of a number of materials and often found in the cement, pottery and ceramics industries. Best-in-class pugmills are able to mix materials into a homogeneous state sometimes in as little as a few seconds. In the following article the author presents several points to ponder when selecting one’s best fitting pugmill.

Explosion Control in Elevators

Vertical Conveying
Conveying systems for bulk solids are often at risk of explosions. as it is almost impossible to avoid this risk, there have to be technical installations which reduce the outcome of such an event. One of the most effective anti-explosion systems for vertical conveyors is an explosion suppression system.

Conveying the Coarse vertically

The new Aumund BWG-GK elevator for coarse grain is designed for the transport of material of grain sizes up to 80 mm.
Vertical Conveying
Belt bucket elevators are in use in various industries for the vertical conveying of numerous bulk solids. New designs of the belt as well as of the buckets and their fixations have led to largely improved conveying heights and capacities. Aumund belt bucket elevators, for example, are characterised by large conveying heights of up to 200 m and conveying capacities up to 2500 t/h.

Essential Checks for flawless Performance

Truck Scales
Truck scales are the “heart” of many applications in the sand, gravel and aggregates industries - their metering results are used to estimate the producers revenues. To neither lose money nor best the client the scales need to be kept in optimum working conditions. Inaccurate readings which may lead to under, and over charging, are reduced if the equipment is serviced properly and regularly.

Ensuring Access to the Coal

KPC has a fleet of 73 Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) machines, including 65 articulated haulers and eight crawler excavators.
Mining Equipment
A coal mine in East Kalimantan (Indonesia) runs a fleet of eight Volvo excavators and 65 articulated haulers for the remove of overburden and some special tasks like fuel and water delivery. To keep this equipment productive, the Indonesian Volvo rep. has a special team onsite, which is supported by Volvo’s equipment tracking software.

CEMA 576 – Classification for Conveyor Belt Cleaners

CEMA 576 is a way to confirm that a cleaner matches the application requirements, and thereby assure customer satisfaction.
Conveyor Belt Cleaning
The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (CEMA) has issued a new standard for the ranking of conveyor belt cleaners, a long-awaited publication that provides performance-based guidelines for specifying belt cleaners by establishing a specific formula for determining the level of difficulty in a given application. The goal of rating the application difficulty is to assist in appropriate cleaner selection, facilitating a suitable choice so both end user and supplier can be satisfied with the result. The new standard is included in the 7th edition of the CEMA book, Belt Conveyors for Bulk Materials, in the section on belt cleaning.
